This week marked a number of anniversaries commemorated in Syria by different actors, including:
March 12, 2004: the Kurdish uprising (Serhildan) in al-Qamishli, sparked by anti-Kurdish violence at a soccer math (DAANES, ENKS statements)
An ENKS march in eastern al-Qamishli (source) March 15, 2011: the start of the Syrian revolution marked by an anti-regime protest of several dozen people in Damascus (Syria Direct on the festivities in Damascus this year)
