Interactive map of post-2018 Afrin
Confirmed military, governance, infrastructure, IDP sites
I’ve put together this interactive map containing around 100 sites related to the post-2018 military and governance situation in Afrin. These have all been confirmed by geolocation or by satellite analysis, and each data point includes links to video and images of the site.
I have yet to figure out how to make a legend on the mapping service I picked but the sites are organized by actor (red = Turkey, green = SNA, blue = Syrian Interim Gov’t/Afrin Local Council, orange = IDP, yellow = other) and type (still playing around with this but circle = military base/point, square = office/headquarters).
I plan on keeping this updated and possibly will be adding other sites such as newly constructed schools and mosques. Additionally I am working on two other maps of Afrin from information I’ve collected over the years, covering (pre-2018) human and natural geography.
